The San Jose Youth Symphony’s Philharmonic Orchestra, under the artistic leadership of Music Director and Conductor Yair Samet, presents its 2024-25 Season Opener Concert to be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, 7:30 pm, at the Mexican Heritage Plaza Theater, 1700 Alum Rock Avenue, San Jose, CA 95116.
The orchestra will open with Rossini’s sprightly and percussive La Gazza Ladra Overture (The Thieving Magpie), along with Massenet’s most highly regarded work for orchestra, the Ballet Suite from Le Cid, and close with Smetana’s exciting Three Dances from The Bartered Bride. This concert will also feature a winner from the 2024 Young Artists’ Competition, proudly sponsored by the San Jose Symphony Foundation*. Outstanding young soloist, Angela Liu, violinist, will perform Bériot’s Scène de Ballet for Violin and Orchestra.
