Plaza Summer Camp

A Free, High-Quality Childcare and Arts Program for East San José Families

At SOAC, we believe every child deserves a joyful summer filled with creativity, connection, and care. That’s why our Plaza Summer Camp offers a free, full-day program for youth in the Mayfair and East San José community—providing families with a trusted childcare solution and students with access to high-quality arts education.

✨ What Makes Our Camp Special?

  • Free of cost to families—removing barriers to enrichment

  • Serves grades 1–8 (and expanding to grades 1–12!)

  • Led by a team of dedicated counselors and credentialed teaching artists

  • Classes in music, visual arts, folklórico, musical theater, and sports

  • Daily schedule runs 9:00 AM–3:00 PM, with extended care until 5:30 PM

Each summer, 250+ campers experience two four-week sessions packed with hands-on learning, outdoor fun, and culturally rooted programming—all held at the iconic Mexican Heritage Plaza.

📈 A Growing Community of Learners

Our camp has more than doubled in size since 2021—reflecting both the demand from families and the deep trust we’ve built. Referrals from our ¡Sí Se Puede! Collective partners ensure we prioritize low-income households, helping to reduce summer learning loss and support working parents.

“Plaza Camp is more than just childcare—it’s where our kids find their voices, build confidence, and stay connected to our culture all summer long.”
